One of the most spectacular spots in south-east Sicily. Cavagrande is a deep canyon carved by the river Cassibile, with rock walls reaching up to 500 metres and, at the bottom, a series of natural pools with crystal-clear water where you can swim. The Scala Cruci trail takes you down from the viewpoint to the pools in about 30 to 40 minutes, but the climb back up is demanding, especially in the heat. Bring closed shoes, a hat, water and everything you need: there are no refreshment points. Entry is paid. An experience well worth the effort.
